Chickasaw Pride Pantry Mrs. Schmitt's Food Production Class put together "Recipes in a Bag" for the Chickasaw Pride Pantry. Their driving question for the Project-Based Learning was: How can we help reduce food insecurity? The students wanted to get more involved with the community. Mrs. Schmitt reached out to Jennifer Monteith who is a member of Rotary and the co-advisor for NHHS Interact Club with Tanya Scott. The Chickasaw Pride Pantry is operated by New Hampton Rotary and New Hampton High School Interact Club. Mrs. Schmitt shared their idea and the Rotary purchased the canned goods and Mrs. Schmitt donated the bags. The students put the bags together and the recipes on the outside. The three recipes were: Green Bean Casserole, Microwave Fruit Salad, and German Chocolate Cocoa Bars. The "Recipes in a Bag" will be available in the New Hampton High School Pantry starting Monday, November 24th; just in time for Thanksgiving. If you would like to donate money to purchase FOOD ONLY gift cards from Fareway please email Mrs. Schmitt at: a_schmitt@new-hampton.k12.ia.us and the group will make more recipes in a bag accompanied by gift cards to purchase fresh items.
Middle school weights Due to the shortened week because of Thanksgiving break, there will be NO middle school weights this week. Middle school weights will start again as usual next week in December - Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 7 AM.
